http://www.icanteachmychild.com/2012/02/seven-things-you-should-be-doing-as-youre-reading-to-your-child/ Oh my! I really need to do better at blogging some things on here! That will be my new years resolution! :)
Updated some dates on the front page...most are general...check the actual school calendar for specifics and things that cover other departments. Upcoming plans for grade levels: Pk/K - all students will be checking out two books of their choice for the spring semester. Will look at talking about Biographies in February and will do another author study this spring semester as well. I would like for them to do a little research project...will have to discuss with team for planning. 1-3 - research projects are ongoing. I believe Biographies are coming up. Will finish up discussion of Caldecott Medal with 1st & 2nd grade. Will continue genre studies with 3rd grade. I am reading stories with them every other week and they are allowed to browse just check out on the "off" week. 4-5 - students are allowed to come more independently. I see some who come down to work and to check out. Some teachers send small groups on certain days. If you feel like your child isn't coming or isn't visiting like you would like them too. Talk it over with your child and your child's teacher to find out what the guidelines for coming to the library are for their particular room. 6-8 - again student come more independently and usually on their own time. I see most of these students when they pop in at lunch. Encourage your middle schooler to swing by and check out the Young Adult |
