Thank you so much to all of the parents who volunteered their time in helping decorate, set up, monitor, and close up the book fair! I couldn't have done it without ya'll!
Thanks again! Our next Fair is, I think, scheduled for the week of May 9-13 :0) ~Mrs. Worsham I got the coolest poster from Scholastic that I feel I just have to share with you what it says. I think it has such a strong message and I feel that it really sums up Literacy and how important it is in a child's life.
"Literacy - the ability to read, write, and understand - is the birthright of every child in the world. Young people need to know how to analyze, interpret, and understand information. *~* Learn to read nonfiction for information. Learn to read fiction for imagination. *~* Every child should have access to books. *~* Young people also need teachers who provide instruction to interpret the information the encounter. Every child should have Literacy Confidence... Literacy Confidence = the ability to read, write, and speak about what they know, what they feel, and who they are. Read Every Day. Lead a Better Life." ~poster from Scholastic, 2010 I've hung this on the book return cart for maximum read-age potential! I hope that left you inspired like it did me. Read to your child, let them read to you. hugs, Mrs. W |
